This concert will feature Origin of Animal and Heisenberg Uncertainty Players coming together to perform Mingus’ album Let My Children Hear Music. Released in 1972, this album was considered by Mingus to be his finest. The album was composed for a large jazz orchestra and featured arrangements by Sy Johnson, Alan Raph and Charles Mingus.

Heisenberg Uncertainty Players will begin the evening with original compositions inspired by Mingus followed by Origin of Animal presenting their own unique versions of some Mingus tunes. To conclude the evening both bands will join forces to present Let My Children Hear Music in its entirety with nearly 40 Chicago musicians sharing the stage.
